How can I, in 100 words adequately describe what Dr Pennings and his staff has done for me and my family...can't be done. So what I will share is that although it was a huge decision to make, Dr Pennings made it a well informed decision. I am 6 months post op and have lost 98 pounds. I have started to live life again, to love life again. I am healthy, happy and totally involved in life. It takes absolute dedication to use this tool to my advantage, but worth every effort to be the woman I was meant to be.

When a friend of mine told me she was going to have gastric bypass surgery I thought she was crazy! After she had the surgery I was able to attend Support Group with her and started considering having the surgery myself. I was still skeptical and terrified. However, once I met Dr. Pennings I knew that the surgery was right for me. I e-mailed a surgeon friend of mine about his thoughts. He begged me NOT to have the surgery. When I told him it was done laparoscopically and Dr. Pennings was the surgeon, he gave his immediate blessing. His exact words were "John Pennings is a stand-up guy and brilliant surgeon. Go for it." I have never regretted my decision. My dream of living a thinner, active and more normal life is now a reality. I thank God every day for the blessing of this surgery and Dr. Pennings.

This surgery changed my life forever. I dreamed of the day I could tie my shoes again, and have unending energy. January 6th,2003 I had the surgery, and as of today, have lost 90lbs. I thank God everyday for helping me find Dr. Pennings, who is the best surgeon ever, and giving me my life back. Weight Loss Surgery has changed my life in just one short year. Before surgery, I weighed 252 pounds, had high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and shortness of breath from severe asthma. I am now free from all of these conditions and no longer take any medications. Now I have terrific energy, weigh 125 pounds and I wear a size 2! I've gotten a new lease on life. When I first talked to my husband about having gastric bypass surgery, he was completely opposed to it. We had not been together very long and he thought I just lacked the will to stick to a diet. Five years later, I broached the subject again. He was still very concerned about the risks, but he had watched me try different diet programs, pills, and exercise regimes to no avail. Thanks to Dr. Pennings and his wonderful staff I am now 141 lbs lighter and it's been 2 1/2 years and still staying off. I feel wonderful and very thankfull for my "new life". I have lost 225 pounds and am wearing clothes I haven't worn since mid high school. Since I am now 43, that was a long time ago. I am 2 1/2 years out and 130 pounds down, and I have NEVER felt better. I have more energy, and just plain feel better about being me. I have had zero problems or concerns since my surgery.
